Site Manager and Athletic Trainer

Mike Landsberg, ATC, CSCS

Michael earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont with a concentration in Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology. Mike is a state licensed and nationally certified Athletic Trainer and he holds additional certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Performance Enhancement Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine, respectively. Mike is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Vermont Association of Athletic Trainers, where he served as president for four years and was the legislative affairs chairman for 18 years. He also serves as an advisor to the Vermont Department of Professional Regulation. He specializes in lower extremity and shoulder injuries and has particular interests in the throwing athlete, performance enhancement through speed, agility, and quickness development, injury prevention, and working with athletes at Colchester High School. Mike’s time away from work is spent coaching track and field and baseball, enjoying the outdoors with his wife, two sons and dog, running, hiking, golf, skiing and snowshoeing.

Amanda Lapierre, DPT

Amanda earned both her Doctorate of Physical Therapy and Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences from the University of Vermont. She specializes in all orthopedic based injuries and has a particular interest in treating sports related injuries and in post-surgical rehabilitation. She is passionate about assisting clients regain movement and control pain after physical injury using a variety of manual techniques and evidenced based therapeutic exercise. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys skiing, hiking, playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends.

Amy Frawley, DPT

Amy earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the George Washington University. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross, where she also rowed crew and figure skated competitively. She is experienced in treating all orthopedic conditions with special interests and training in Functional Dry Needling, manual therapy, and treatment of peripheral vestibular disorders. Amy is a native Vermonter and loves all things outdoors. Outside of the gym, you can find her running with her dog, paddle boarding, wake surfing, or skiing.

Colleen Bruns, PT

Colleen is a graduate of Quinnipiac College in Connecticut and has been practicing physical therapy since 1999. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and carries an interest in foot alignment and casting for orthoses. You can find Colleen and her husband outdoors road cycling, hiking, running, or alpine and telemark skiing at Mad River Glen.

Heather Gorman, PT

Heather Gorman is a physical therapist and a certified athletic trainer. She received her Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training and her Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut. Heather specializes in oncology rehabilitation. She is passionate in her belief of the need for Physical Therapy as part of the recovery process from cancer. Her focus is predominantly with the exercise portion of rehabilitation to improve strength, endurance and overall functional activity level. Her passion for oncology rehabilitation stems from her personal experience with her family members’ fight with the disease. Outside of work she is busy running her children to various sporting events, but during her free time enjoys hiking and being on the beach.

Jackie Gamache, DPT

Jackie earned both her Bachelors degree in Exercise and Movement Science (in 2014) and Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree (2016) from the University of Vermont. She has since been treating a wide range of conditions, including, but not limited to post-surgical/orthopedic, neuromuscular, vestibular and neurodegenerative conditions.

In graduate school, she was involved in research focused on neurological effects of both aging and Parkinson’s Disease. Her research background in both natural aging and Parkinson’s disease has made balance training, fall prevention, and exercises tailored to Parkinson’s Disease one of her professional passions. She has taken a variety of continuing education courses including LSVT BIG for individuals with Parkinson’s, Vestibular Rehabilitation Training with American Institute of Balance, and courses with Postural Restoration Institute and many others. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and its Neurology Section. After undergoing her own orthopedic surgery during college, Jackie feels it is a privilege to work alongside her patients as they navigate recovery: sharing in the challenges and victories of the rehabilitation process and empowering clients with both knowledge and confidence to achieve their goals.

Jackie grew up in Maine and is a well-rounded weekend warrior, either busy with yoga, pilates, weightlifting, running, hiking, or skiing. She regularly volunteers in her community with both Girls on The Run and Vermont Adaptive Sports throughout the year.

Kristen Merrill, DPT

Kristen earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Arcadia University in PA. She received her B.S. in Kinesiology from Penn State University with a focus on movement science. She enjoys treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and is passionate about helping patients restore their independence and functional mobility. Kristen spends her free time outdoors enjoying VT; skiing, boating on the lake, and hiking with her dog Eddy; as well as cooking/baking.

Kristina Marcussen, DPT

How did an Essex grad achieve the highest level in Redcord Training, a Neurac 3 Therapist? She followed in her grandmother’s footsteps – a physiotherapist in Norway in the 1940’s — and Redcord just happens to be Norwegian suspension training equipment. Kristina graduated from Bates with a French degree and went on to get her Doctoral of Physical Therapy from Northwestern in Chicago. Kristina has come home to Essex, and lives there with her husband, Dave, daughter, Sylvie and Corgi, Lucy. She enjoys skiing, hiking, dragonboating and good books. Laughter with whole body therapy is her main focus!

Kyle McGregor, DPT

Kyle graduated from the University of Vermont with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2014. Kyle is especially interested in the management of pain (both chronic and acute) and as a registered yoga teacher he enjoys incorporating yoga practices/principles when appropriate.

Kyle likes to spend his free time staying active, preferably outside with his pup, Reina, doing/teaching yoga, but he likes nothing more than cooking up a feast to be enjoyed among family and friends.

Sharon Gutwin, PT

Sharon Gutwin graduated from the University of Vermont in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. She has practiced PT in a variety of settings, but most recently in Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation. Her ideas of the RehabGYM have come from years of listening to what patients most want in physical rehabilitation. In addition to reactive care for injury and disease, Sharon promotes proactive care efforts to focus on keeping the body healthy and injury free.

Sean Jaques

Sean earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Vermont in 2008. His professional experience has focused on client support in various technical industries. This reflects his interest in computers and contributes to his success as Billing Specialist for The RehabGYM. Other interests include reading, online gaming, photography and traveling the world. Sean has a special interest in photographing European castles such as the majestic Neuschwanstein in Germany.

Executive

David Barlow

David worked as a senior executive for Iron Mountain and Health Dialog prior to joining The RehabGYM full-time in 2016. He is a financial partner in the business and is responsible for daily operations with the three site managers. David stays active by playing golf and pickleball.
